First Six Weeks:

Reading:  Review short/long vowel rules l, r, s and final consonant blends initial and final consonant diagraphs inflected ending -ed. Comprehension-predicting, character, author's purpose, setting and drawing conclusions. 

Language:  Sentences, Parts of a Sentence, Statements and Questions, Exclamations and Commands, Writing a Personal Story

Spelling: Short vowel words

Math: Addition and Subtraction strategies for facts to 18

Social Studies: Living in a Community:  A Community of People, A Member of Different Groups, Around the Neighborhood, A Citizen of Many Communities, About Change, Needs and Wants

Science: Plants Are Living Things; Parts of Plants; Plants Make New Plants; Everyone Needs Plants; All Kinds of Animals; Animals Meet their Needs; Animals Grow and Change.  

 

Second Six Weeks:

Third Six Weeks

Reading:  Sounds ou, ow, ew, oo; inflected endings, contractions; -r controlled -or -ore- ar; comparative endings -er, -est; compare and contrast. 

Language:  Present-Tense Verbs, Past-Tense Verbs, Forms of Be, Forms of Have, Writing a story.

Spelling:  long a (ai, ay); long 3 (e, ea,ee); vowel sound as in ball spelled (o, aw, all); words spelled with -ch and -sh; words spelled with -th and -wh

Math:  Adding two digit numbers with and without regrouping; subtracting tow digit numbers with and with regrouping.

Social Studies: Past and Present:  Measuring Time, Tracing a Community's History, Celebrating Our Country's History, Celebrating Heroes of the Past, Contributions in World History

Science: Water and Our Weather; Earth Can Change Slowly; Earth Can Change Quickly; Clues in Rocks; Putting the Clues together; Life on Earth Changes

Spelling:  Words ending with nd, ng, nk, s, es; long o spellings; vowel sounds in moon and book; homophones

Spelling:  Units 25-30.  Long I patterns; final sound in puppy, vowel sound in cow; compound words, and contractions

Language: Come, Run, and Give, Go, Do and See, Helping Verbs, Adverbs, Writing a How-to Paragraph

Social Studies:  People At Work: Goods and Services, Producers and Consumers, A Visit to a Factory, Work and Income, People Make a Difference, Goods from Near and Far

Sixth Six Weeks
